 Ammonoids are ancestors of the modern day Nautilus. These are squid like creatures that lived in
either coiled or straight shells. The fossil above came from the Thaynes formation in Nevada. This particular species lived approximately 240,000,000 years ago during the Triassic period. Ammonoids can be found all over the world and can be as old as 400,000,000 years old!! |
